How TBT Offers Clients Low Medical Transcription Rates

In today’s economy, you are probably asking yourself, “So if TBT doesn't outsource the work, then how can they offer affordable transcription services?” It is because TBT uses only a team of highly trained editor specialist and medical transcriptionists along with the latest technology.  TBT only hires the best and most qualified individuals to staff our team of experts.  A pre-employment screening process and then a six month training process ensures that every client receives exceptional performance with any dictation. TBT’s staff is also trained thoroughly on HIPAA policies and procedures and required to undergo annual reviews.  Additionally, TBT uses the most up-to-date medical lexicons, dictionaries and reference materials as well as powerful computer software to ensure that documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This saves TBT and the client time and money.

TBT's affordable transcription services and rates are based on the dictated minute method. TBT is unique in using the dictated minute method for providing transcription service.   The dictated minute is preferred instead of the more traditional method of line count for this service.  Calculating cost in any business is a very important task, and simplifying this task is extremely important.    Character and line count definitions vary from service to service depending on the various software programs. The definition of the dictated minute method is the actual time it takes a dictator to record dictations.  By using this method, both the dictator and the transcription service have a check and balance system in place to verify the amount of dictation sent and the amount of transcription completed.  The dictator usually knows the amount of minutes dictated, but has no idea of how many lines, so this allows the dictator to know exactly the services that are being paid for.  For example, it takes approximately one minute to dictate one page.  Using the traditional line count the dictator may dictate for one minute and be charged for two pages because the dictator used a “normal” dictation on file with the transcription service and the service charges for each line in that “normal” each time it is used.  With the dictated minute method the dictator only gets charged for dictating “insert my normal…” not the complete dictation.  However, if after reviewing our website and the client still feels the traditional 65 character line count method is more suitable, TBT has included that information as  well.

The cost for providing these services are listed below.

  • 2.00 per dictated minute/12.5 cents per 65 character line
  • 2.25 per dictated minute for STAT dictation/15 cents per 65 character line.

Note:   All Stats must be called in between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday (CST) for a 1-4 hour turn-around.

The first 30 days of transcription is a trial period. A transcription agreement, as well as a Business Associates Agreement (HIPAA), will be required before any transcription can be completed.
